NOTE-- We
retired the MacNail estimating program in 2000, and replaced
it with Goldenseal construction estimating
software. There are still a significant number of die-hard MacNail
users, so we keep the manuals online for them! Goldenseal
is an integrated program that also includes accounting,
scheduling and contract writing. It runs on Macintosh
and Windows computers.
The Customizing Directory (Windows)
The MacNail Customizing installer
disk will install a Customizing (CUSTOM) directory onto your hard drive. It will be already set
up with appropriate subdirectories, which you can view by using the Windows File Manager
(see illustration below).
MacNail Customizing uses the directories to keep your hard disk
tidy, with a place for each of your Customizing files.
WARNING: Do not rename the Customizing directory!
It must be named CUSTOM for certain transfers to work.
WARNING: Do not rename any of the directories within the Customizing directory! MacNail Customizing
will not be able to function if it doesn 't recognize its subdirectories.
The contents of the Customizing
directory are as follows:
*
CUSTOM.XLM is the macro sheet that runs MacNail Customizing in the MacNail
construction management software. When you open it, it puts customizing commands
onto the menu bar.
*
PRICES is a directory that includes the different files used to compute material unit prices-- Price
Sheets (.PRS suffix), Comparisons (.CMP suffix) and Assemblies files (.ASM suffix).

*
MASTERS is a directory where Price Masters (.PRM suffix), the unit costs file (MACNAIL.UC) and other master

files will have a .BLK suffix.
