MacNail Menu Commands

NOTE-- We retired the MacNail estimating program in 2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal construction estimating software. There are still a significant number of die-hard MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for them! Goldenseal is an integrated program that also includes accounting, scheduling and contract writing. It does not require Excel, and avoids the many odd workarounds that we had to use in MacNail.

Switching between Construction Software Modules

When you open a MacNail Manager, it will add its commands to the bottom of the regular Excel menus. When you close the Manager or transfer to another Manager, it will remove the additional menu items.

If you want to transfer between two different MacNail modules, use the transfer commands in the MacNail (McN) menu. They properly handle the addition and removal of MacNail menu commands when you enter each module in the MacNail construction management software.

Do not use Excel's Open command from the File menu to open a second Manager when one is already open. If you are using MultiFinder, don't open a second Manager with a double-click on its icon.

If you accidentally do open two different Managers without going through the MacNail menu, you may end up with missing or extra menu commands. To fix these problems, close all files, quit from Excel, then re-open the Customizing Manager.
