Code Masters

NOTE-- We retired the MacNail estimating program in 2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal construction estimating software. There are still a significant number of die-hard MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for them! Goldenseal is an integrated program that also includes accounting, scheduling and contract writing. It uses a simpler system of cost categories and category systems, so you don't need to do anything special to convert between different systems.

Estimating Category Code Master

The three Code Masters are used to convert between different code systems used in the MacNail construction estimating software. They are located in the Master Files folder, inside the Customizing folder. Each one tells MacNail how different code systems 'link' to each other, so files may be converted from one format to another.

The Category Code Master is used to convert between different cost categories, when you are using more than one cost category system.

The Item Code Master is used to convert between different line item cost code systems. See pages 153-155 for instructions on the use of this file.

The Material Code Master is used to convert between different material code systems in the MacNail construction estimating software. See pages 156-157 for instructions on the use of this file.
