Ledger Job Cost Info

NOTE-- These manual pages cover our older MacNail construction job costing software, which we retired in 2000. It has been replaced by Goldenseal, which is an integrated business management program that includes general accounting, job costing, payroll and project billing, plus construction cost estimating, contract writing and simple scheduling. Goldenseal does not require Excel, but it is otherwise very similar to MacNail.

Type (Full Ledger only)

Enter the type of payment. The MacNail construction accounting software uses a letter code to distinguish the type of payee-- use L for labor, M for materials, S for subcontractors and O for other (misc) items. Leave this cell blank for deposits.

Enter the code number from the Master Index for the desired payee. For example, to enter the second material supplier, enter a type of M and a number of 2.

Check the who to column to make sure you have entered the correct supplier type and code number.
If a supplier does not have a code number, add the supplier to the Master Index, and then use the new code number for that supplier. For 'one of a kind' suppliers, you can enter the name directly into the who to column.

Date

Enter the date of the transaction. You may need to type over the date that was entered the last time you added rows, if it is wrong. You can use command-hyphen to enter today's date.
