Adding Rows

Accounting--Edit Menu

Excel's EDIT menu includes commands for editing cells and worksheets. The MacNail construction accounting software adds four accounting commands to this menu.

When working with MacNail Accounting files, do not use Excel's Insert or Delete commands. They can damage the worksheet. Use *Add Rows or *Delete Rows instead.

NOTE-- Goldenseal construction accounting software replaced MacNail in 2000. It's an integrated program that includes general accounting, job costing, payroll and project billing, plus estimating and other features. It uses separate accounting records for each transaction, rather than rows in a spreadsheet.

*Add Rows

Keyboard shortcut: option-command-A.

Use *Add Rows when you run out of blank space in your accounting files. It will create additional blank lines in any Ledger, any Logbook, or in the Master Index.

For best results, enter data until there is no more room in your Ledgers and Logbooks, then use *Add rows to create additional blank lines.

NOTE: To change the number of rows added, use *MacNail Options from the OPTIONS menu (see page 172).

NOTE: The *Add Rows command adds lookup formulas to the new rows, and removes the lookup formulas from the previous rows. If you have accidentally removed the lookup formulas from lines that have not been entered yet, use *Lookup Formulas from the FORMULA menu to restore them (see page 165).
Running time: 16 seconds/50 seconds.
