Accounting Lookup Formulas

When new rows are added by the MacNail construction accounting software, the 'lookup' formulas that display job name and payee name will be erased from previous rows.

NOTE: The lookup formulas are fairly slow, and having too many of them on your worksheet will slow down all operations.

If you haven't entered into all rows before choosing *Add Rows, you will find that the blank lines from the previous section will not 'look up' job names and payee names from the Master Index.

To remove or restore lookup formulas, drag the mouse through the rows that are missing formulas, and choose *Lookup Formulas from the FORMULA menu.

* If the top row already includes lookup formulas, then lookup formulas will be removed from all selected rows.
* If the top row does not include lookup formulas, then they will be added to all selected rows.

NOTE-- Goldenseal construction accounting software is the successor to MacNail, which we retired in 2000. Goldenseal is an integrated business management program that includes general accounting, job costing, payroll and project billing, plus construction cost estimating, contract writing and simple scheduling. Because it doesn't use Excel, there is no need for weird formulas to make the accounting and jub costing functions work!

In some cases, you may need to make changes to the Master Index. These changes will only affect those rows that still contain lookup formulas

If you want to change the Master Index and want to have the change show up on accounting worksheets, be sure to restore the lookup formulas to the desired rows.

If you do not want the changes to affect the worksheets, then be sure that lookup formulas have first been removed from all accounting worksheet rows that should not be changed.
