Client Meetings

Construction ITEM DESCRIPTION

This unit cost covers time spent meeting with clients.

Labor Costs

The unit cost is just one hour of supervisor time. Enter an estimate number of hours spent talking with clients about the construction project (it might be anywhere from 1 to hundreds of hours depending on the size and complexity of the project).

Material Costs

None.

Suggested Quantity

None. We never really came up with a decent "rule of thumb" for this. It varies so much depending on project details and the personality of the client.

If you show line item costs to the clients, letting them see this quantity may stir up some comments, especially if they are fussy clients and you've put in a large quantity because of that! If you do "open book" estimates, you may want to shift some of this cost into general supervision time instead.

Comments

This assembly is an excellent place to shift some overhead costs to direct project hard costs instead.

It's easy keep track of the time spent on client meetings, so you might as well include it as a line item when estimating-- and then job cost the time directly to the project.
