Soil Removal Cost, Difficult Hand Loading

Construction ITEM DESCRIPTION

Excavation unit cost for removing soil or other fill, using hand labor.

Unit Size

One cubic yard of soil or other fill materials.

Labor and Equipment Costs

We figure a little more than 2 1/2 hours of unskilled labor per cubic yards of soil. This figure assumes loading materials into a pickup truck, a moderately short haul to the disposal site (less than 20 minutes round trip travel time), and then unloading the materials by hand. Use this "difficult" unit cost if materials can't be thrown directly into the truck, or if you use a small pickup truck that requires several trips per cubic yard of soil.

Material Costs

None.
