Window Positions

Problem

Goldenseal accounting software stores the position of each window when you close it, so it will reopen at the same size and position. It also remembers which windows are still open when you quit or exit from the program, and then reopens them, the next time you open your company file.

If Goldenseal can't open a window properly, it will reset its position to the default position and size. That may happen if you switch to a smaller monitor, or switch the screen resolution so the available space is too small. If a window would be entirely offscreen we reset it.

It appears that on rare occasions, the window position gets "lost". Several users have reported this problem, and we have seen it in our own testing. Unfortunately, it's so rare that we haven't been able to track down a cause.

Caught By

User bug reports, Turtle Creek software testing.

Workaround

Resize the window, and move it to the place where you'd like it to stay. Goldenseal will remember the new position.

Solution

We have added a dialog to the reset process, so you can now choose whether or not to reset the window position to the default size and position.

The warning should make it easier for us (and users) to notice the circumstances when window positions are "lost".

NOTE-- We'd appreciate hearing reports of when windows need to be reset. That will eventually help us to track down the underlying, intermittent problem.
