Income Tax Report-- One Time Names

Problem

In Goldenseal accounting software versions 3.8 and earlier, the Income Tax report was showing the account name, not the "one time" name. That made it harder to identify expenses that were made to a "one time" payee.

Workaround

To change the report display, follow these steps:

  1. Choose Custom Layouts from the Options menu, and choose Reports from the submenu.
  2. Enter Taxes into the Area popup field at upper left, and enter Income Taxes into the Report popup field.
  3. Click on the Account column in the report table.
  4. Choose Delete Column from Table from the Edit menu.
  5. Choose Add Column to Table from the Edit menu.
  6. Choose One Time Payee Name from the list of available fields.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Double-click on the new column, and rename it to Account (or whatever you'd like to call it).
  9. Click OK.
  10. Hold down the Command key (Mac) or Control key (Windows), click in the new column, and move it to the left.
  11. Close the layout, and save changes.

Solution

Version 3.9 of Goldenseal accounting software fixes this problem by using the "one time" name in the Income Tax report. You'll see the new layout automatically, after you install the new version.

NOTE-- If you have customized the Income Tax report, you'll either need to revert the layout to its original version, or follow the steps above.
