Longer Breakdown Item Names

Starting in Goldenseal estimating software version 3.4, you can type up to 255 characters for item names in Category and Item breakdowns.

How to Use

Just type in more text, and Goldenseal will let you.

You might want to widen the table columns so you can see the additional text. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Choose Custom Layouts from the Options menu, and choose Transactions from the submenu.
2. Enter Estimates, Sales or some other transaction into the Transaction popup field at upper left.
3. Enter Category or Items into the Layout popup field.
4. To widen the entire layout, choose Size & Margins from the Options menu, and type in a larger size for the width. Then click OK.
5. To widen the table column, click on the bar to the right of the Cost Item or Item column, and drag it to the left. You can also double-click on the column and enter a larger number for the width.

Technical Details

If you use longer descriptions, you may also want to widen the Printed Forms layouts to show the extra text. You may need to switch to landscape printing to have room for it all.
