Foreign Currency (Completed)

How are we planning to support foreign currency transactions?

Goldenseal accounting software already supports any currency. It automatically uses whatever currency symbol and decimal divider that you have set in your Windows control panel or Macintosh system settings.

In the version 3.3 update, we added an option to shift decimals, which allows money amounts of up to 20 trillion. This feature is useful in a few locations with highly inflated currencies, where the regular limit of 2 billion money units is too small.

If you need to handle transactions in more than one currency, we have also added optional foreign currency fields to the Material Purchases and Sales transactions records, and a Currencies list to identify foreign currencies and exchange rates. There are also optional fields on those records to store the amounts in a second currency, other than the one used for basic accounting. You will need to use the Custom Layouts command to add these additional fields to your data entry screens, if you work with more than one currency unit.

You can set up custom Printed Forms to show amounts in the foreign currency, so you can invoice in whatever currency you want.
