Sending an Estimate by Email

How can I email an estimate to a customer?

When using Goldenseal estimating software, the best way to email a professional-looking estimate to a customer or prospect depends on your computer:

Macintosh

To send an estimate by email using a Macintosh computer, follow these steps:

  1. Choose Estimates from the Income menu.
  2. Locate the estimate you want to print.
  3. Choose Print Forms from the File menu.
  4. Click on the Form Type button, and choose the type of form you'd like to print (there are 6 forms with different levels of detail).
  5. Click the Print button.
  6. You'll see a printer dialog. Click the PDF button, and choose Mail PDF from the popup menu.
  7. The Mac will open your Mail program, so you can compose an email with the estimate included.

NOTE-- You can also choose Save as PDF at step 6. Save a file at a convenient location, and then use any email program to compose a message. You can then include the estimate as an attachment.

Windows Vista and Newer

To send an estimate by email using a Windows computer, follow these steps:

In the list of printers, click on PDF Complete. Then click the Print button.
  7. You'll be asked to save a PDF file on your hard drive. Give it a name that you'll remember, and save it in a location that you'll remember (Documents is a good place).
  8. Open your favorite email program, and compose a message to the customer.
  9. Attach the file you created in step 7, and send it.

Windows XP and Older, Macintosh OS 9

Older versions of Windows and Macintosh do not have built-in capacity to print PDF (Personal Document Format) documents. However, there are free utility programs available that allow you to print to PDF. Try a Google search on "PDF printer", or contact our support line for help.

Once you have installed a PDF printer, follow the steps above.

HINT-- Use the Custom Layouts command to change the appearance of any business forms that you print or email.
