I'm having
problems with my VPN connection!
Here's are some checklists for Virtual Private
Network connections.
New Connection
Here's what to check, when you are setting up
a new VPN connection and it doesn't work:
- Can you connect outside of Goldenseal? If not, it may be a
hardware or network problem.
- Does your firewall allow access to the Goldenseal port?
It should not block 18259 (or a different # if you
changed the port).
- Can you connect to the Goldenseal server over your local
network (LAN)? If not, it's a general
network problem.
Existing Connection that Used to Work
Here's what to check, if your VPN connection
used to work, but now it doesn't:
- Can you connect outside of Goldenseal?
If not, it may be a hardware or network problem.
- Did you change the firewall settings? It
should not block 18259 (or a different #
if you changed the port).
- Are you using the correct Goldenseal port to sign on? The client
and server need to use the same one!
- Can you connect to the Goldenseal server
over your local network (LAN)? If not, it's a general
network problem.
