Avoiding Illogical Dates

I sometimes enter dates for the wrong year. Can Goldenseal prevent that?

If you enter dates without a year, Goldenseal will fill in the most "logical" year automatically. It usually uses the current year, but during the first three months of the year, dates after August will get last year's date.

Starting with version 2.7, Goldenseal accounting software can warn you when you enter an "illogical" date, even if you enter a four-digit year. That can be handy at the beginning of the year, if you accidentally use last year's date.

To set Goldenseal accounting software to check for unreasonable dates, follow these steps:

  1. Choose Preferences from the Options menu, and choose Data Entry from the submenu.
  2. Turn on the checkbox for Warn about Illogical Dates.
  3. Click OK.

When the checkbox is on, Goldenseal will complain if you enter a date that is unreasonably far from the present date.
