Partial Job Cost Posting

Problem

User would like to make a partial posting of cost control or p&l to just some items or just some jobs in MacNail construction accounting software. How to start/ stop/ end posting for just some items.

Diagnosis

User has a ton of job cost entries and wants to just post expenses to some of them.

Solution

Type the word 'start' (without quotes) into the first row to use, and/or type 'stop' into the last row to use-- this is in the cc? column (cost control posting) or p&l column (P&L posting). See manual page 133-- but some manuals say to use 'end' as the stopping word, which is no longer correct.

HINT-- can use Sort Special before doing this to group by job or by something else. Then it's easier to post just one job, for example.

The posting process will remove the 'start' and 'stop' text and post to those rows, plus everything in between.
Note that this system is only the case using Cost Control Manager 3.3a and later. In earlier versions, 'start' and 'stop' work, but posting is NOT made to the 'start' and 'stop' rows themselves, only to the rows between them.
Δ (VP): in earlier versions, the word used to mark the end of the posting range is 'end', not stop.
