Job Costing Payroll Overtime

Problem

how to job cost overtime hours in MacNail construction accounting software. Handling time-and-a-half employee hours in MacNail construction job costing software or construction payroll software.

Diagnosis

Can either:
1. job cost overtime hours against all jobs for that week
2. assign them to a particular job.
In both cases, you'll start by logging in actual employee hours for each job.

Solution

1. After doing payroll and 'update payroll files', switch to cc manager and run the 'feed back payroll burden' command.
2. Give employee 0 a rate of $10 per hour, and call them 'overtime'. Figure the extra cost of overtime hours in each job, and add line(s) in the Labor Log with employee 0, the job and cost category, and the # of hours that computes the correct overtime cost. In payroll report, still need to adjust the actual o-time hours for paycheck (see item 94)

2A. As an alternative if they do a LOT of overtime, they can add a 2nd copy of each employee to the Master Index, entering them at half the wage rate of the 'real' employee. Log in overtime hours there. When they do a payroll report, go through all of the dummy 'overtime' employees and set their hours to zero. Adjust actual o-time hours for paycheck (see item 94)
