Job Cost Errors-- Bad Subcategory

Problem

Getting 'bad subcategory' error message in cc column after Post to Job Costs command in MacNail construction job costing software.
*Bad Subcat message in cc? col

Diagnosis

Check the cost control sheet in our construction accounting software.
• Is the subcat # in the ledger/log bigger than the last subcategory for that category?
• Are the subcategories headings (col A) properly in numerical sequence 1-2-3-4 etc?
• Subcategory headings not missing or anything?

Solution

Fix the subcategory line in the ledger/log or cc sheet, clear the error message from the cc sheet, and try posting again.

NOTE: This may also come up occasionally on office cost control sheets if the category is CO or AL. They are reserved for change orders and allowances, and must have a subcategory number.
