Problem
"No matching items" error in report from
labor log/material log in MacNail construction
accounting software.
Diagnosis
Could be dbase damaged on log, OR incorrect entries. Try:
1. enter into criteria the setup that was in the report
2. make sure items >0 and total >0
- If zero items in query, there really
aren't any matching items.
- If items>0
but total is zero, there are matching items but all of
them are zero-- need to check out why.
- DO an extraction and see if that fails

NOTE-- See also this link for Unpaid
Items Only status
Solution
• check: does the "TOTAL" column in the log have #'s or zeros? It will have 0 e.g.
if stax is zero in MI (mat log) or if burden is zero in MI (lab log).
•
if they were doing a labor report of "unpaid items only", check that pd? column is in fact empty (no spaces,
etc) Also sales tax must have a # in it; if they don't want sales tax calculated, enter a 1.0 in that column.
•
check: are burden #'s filled in in MI? Burden cannot be empty or zero. If using EI, are all columns of EI
filled in? (emp #, name, wage, withhold, married, deduct are most important)
•
If above looks ok, try a straight extraction. If extraction doesn't work either, the problem is in the log-
defined names may be missing or off. See tech answer entries on extraction problems.
NOTE-- MacNail has been replaced by Goldenseal accounting
software, which is not based on Excel. Its report interface is
much simpler, and doesn't lead to as much confusion as often
happened in MacNail
