Missing Numbers in Master Index

Problem

Master Index-- missing numbers in series (column A), rows missing in MacNail accounting software

Diagnosis

Show row and column headings.
1. Are rows hidden? Will be jump in row numbers at far left.
2. Were rows deleted? Row numbers will be ok, but the numbers in column A will skip a bunch. Could also be a bug in some old versions where it erroneously jumps from #38 to #40.
3. Are they possibly in at column I and looking at formula bar?

Solution

1. select rows on either side of the hidden rows, choose Row Heights from Format menu, and Unhide (in XL 2.2, type in a row height of 12).
2. Select cells in column A from last 'good number' to end, and fill in a new number series
3. Explain that it's displaying I-9 (cell reference) and then I-10 etcetera.

Problem applies to MacNail construction accounting software and also job costing features.

NOTE-- Our newer Goldenseal accounting software has much better integration of data, and it won't have problems like this.
