Excel 5 Won't Open Files |

Problem Macintosh: Excel 5 refuses to convert a Manager from earlier format to xl5 format, says "sorry, cannot access read-only xxxx". Diagnosis Macintosh Excel version 5 can't open Excel 1.5 files. Need to open them first with XL 2.2, 3 or 4, save them in that format. Or use new blanks that are already in newer format. NOTE-- Goldenseal accounting software for Macintosh does not require Excel, and doesn't suffer from the many problems that MacNail had. Some extensions conflict with XL5: Solution restart with extensions off (hold down Shift key while restarting), see if that fixes it.
