Master Index, Adding Rows

Problem

Add rows in Master Index doesn't work. Nothing seems to get added when MI is active and they choose Add Rows from the Edit menu, while using MacNail construction accounting software.

Diagnosis

Check and see where 'end of file' row is in the Other column. If it is shifted down, it's breaking because they inserted cells into just that column.

Solution

Delete all the excess cells in the 'other' row so 'end of file' in it is the same as in the other rows.

Add rows in MI uses the bottom of 'other' to see where the bottom is. If cells were added to 'other', then it will be below the 'end of file' row in the other columns, and so new rows will be added AFTER the 'end of file' row instead of before, like it's supposed to.

Other things in MI may also be screwed up-- it's probably a good idea to check location of all defined names.

NOTE: This kind of file-damage problem is now ancient history, since our new Goldenseal construction accounting software stores all data in only one file, and is much better at managing it.
