Problem
MacNail accounting commands doesn't work on a file
the user thinks it's supposed to. Instead, it gives an error
message "
Sorry, you must have an xxxx as the active document"
Diagnosis
It's generally because the file is misnamed.
E.g. most of the estimating commands require that the file contain the word 'estimate', to recognize it as
an estimate. Similarly for 'ledger', 'labor log', etc etc.
Ask the user for the name of the window (or if they don't understand that, go to the Window menu and ask
which one has a checkmark next to it).
This applies to MacNail construction accounting software and other modules also.
Solution
If incorrect name, use Save As to save it under correct name and in correct folder location (Current
Estimates, Current Accounts, etc).
Also explain that they should use the MacNail commands to create new files (New Estimate, New Accounting
File, etc)-- they will always create with the correct file name.
NOTE-- Our newer Goldenseal accounting program stores
all company data in a single file, so there is no need to be
careful about how it's named.
