Report Shows All Zeros

Problem

All zeros in Balance Sheet or Income Statement report.

Not showing values in reports with calculators, or showing incorrect values or error messages in Goldenseal accounting software (depending on version).

Diagnosis

Accounting reports that don't use tables get their values from calculators. If you start with one of the starter files, they are already included. If not, the report layouts don't know how to calculate the calculated values, and will show all zeros.

Solution

It's possible to import report calculators from one of the Starter Files:

  1. Open one of the starter files, in the Starter Files folder.
  2. Choose Export from the File menu, go to Other items and export All Calculators. Remember the file name and location.
  3. Quit.
  4. Open the company file.
  5. Choose Import from the File menu, and choose Company File.
  6. Locate the file that you exported in step 2. Click Open.
  7. The calculators will be imported, and the balance sheet will know where to get its numbers.

Note that we made a couple changes to the calculators in Goldenseal software versions between 1.02 and 1.04. Users may need to follow the steps above even if they used a starter file, if the file was first created with 1.00 to 1.02 (during early 2001).

NOTE-- The calculator system can cause confusion, but it also allows users to change anything they want in any report.
