Salaried & Subcontracted Employees

Here's how the MacNail construction accounting software handles employees that aren't paid an hourly wage.

NOTE-- Goldenseal construction payroll software is much better at handling salaried employees.

Salaried Employees

Salaried employees will be first entered at the hourly wage rate from the Master Index, even though it is just an approximation.

To give them their proper salary, type the dollar amount paid for the payroll period into the Gross (pay) column for that employee.

If you use *Feed back Payroll Burden (see page 121), the actual salary for the week will be used to adjust the approximate labor costs that were previously entered.

Subcontracted Employees

Any employee with a burden factor of 1 in the Master Index will be treated as a 'subcontracted' employee, and no withholding or employer taxes will be figured.

WARNING: You will usually be held responsible for employer taxes on 'subcontracted' employees, unless they are treated as true subcontractors. Check with your tax advisor or lawyer before handling employees in this way.
