Here's how the MacNail construction accounting software handles some payroll "quirks": NOTE-- Our newer Goldenseal construction payroll software easily handles overtime, holidays, vacations, worker's comp, and many other special cases. Overtime The MacNail payroll software automatically figures overtime hours in the Payroll Report. If you need to adjust the calculated overtime hours, click in the o-time column and type in a new value. To pay double time, type in a number that is twice the number already included in the o-time column. Workman's Compensation Workman's Compensation rates are figured automatically, based on the method that you entered previously into *Payroll Options under the OPTIONS menu (see page 176). Rates will be 'looked up' from the Master Index if figured by person. If figured by work category, they will be calculated in the Labor Report, based on construction categories that you entered into the original Labor Log (see pages 61 and 63). Other Deductions Several blank columns are provided to handle medical, tool, and other deductions. You will need to enter these deductions by hand for each employee. Paid Holidays, Vacations and Sick Leave For best results, enter paid holidays, vacations and sick leave as actual hours in the Labor Log that you use. Assign them to job 99 (office), with a category of EB (employee benefits).
