Starting Estimated Jobs

To set up a new Job Cost Control worksheet from a MacNail estimate:

1. Choose *New Job Cost Sheet from the FILE menu.
2. A dialog box will be displayed. Click on Estimate as the source. Click on Firm Bid unless you are working on a 'cost plus' basis. Put a check next to Use Clearinghouse subcategories if you want to track your costs with both construction categories and subcategories. Otherwise leave it unchecked.
3. A list of all estimates in the Current Estimates folder will be displayed. Click on one of them, then click OK.
4. A cost control worksheet for the project will be created automatically. The process may take up to fifteen minutes on a slow Mac when Use Clearinghouse subcategories has been checked.
5. All prices from the estimate will be included on the worksheet, and no further work needs to be done.

NOTE-- In 2000, MacNail was replaced by Goldenseal construction job costing software. Goldenseal is an integrated program that includes general accounting, job costing, payroll and project billing, plus estimating and other features.
