Using Accounting Managers

You will use either the Accounting Manager or the Cost Control Manager to run MacNail's different accounting functions in the MacNail construction accounting software. The two Managers add special accounting commands to the bottom of the regular Excel menus. All MacNail menu commands start with * (asterisk).

NOTE-- Goldenseal construction accounting software replaced MacNail in 2000. It's an integrated program that includes general accounting, job costing, payroll and project billing, plus estimating and other features.

To start up in either Manager:
1. Double-click on the MacNail Manager, and click the Accounts or Job Costs button.
-or-
2. Open the Accounts folder, and double-click on the Accounting Manager or Cost Control Manager.

To transfer to either Manager from another MacNail module:
1. Choose *Accounts or *Job Costing from the McN menu.
-or-
2. Close the Manager you are currently using, and then open the Accounting Manager or Cost Control Manager.

Closing a Manager:

You can use the close box (or 'go away' box) to leave a Manager. Just before the Manager closes, it will remove all MacNail commands from the menu.

You will usually be asked whether to save changes to the Manager.
* Answer yes if you want to preserve the setting of dialog box buttons.
* Otherwise, answer no. It makes no functional difference whether you save changes or not, but it goes slightly quicker if you don't save changes.
