Fixing Job Costing Errors |
If you discover an error in a Ledger or Logbook in the MacNail construction accounting software, you can change it with the following procedures. NOTE-- Goldenseal job costing software automatically re-posts any changes in job costing. Just change the expense, and there is nothing else you need to do. Goldenseal was released in 2000, and replaced MacNail accounting. If the item has not yet been posted: Simply replace the bad information with the correct numbers or text. No other action is required. You may have to use *Lookup Formulas from the Accounting Manager if the payee or project name was incorrect. HINT: To see if an item has been posted--check the cc? column. If it is blank, the item has not yet been posted. If the item has already been posted: Transfer to Accounting, and choose *Fix Incorrect Entry from the FORMULA menu. A 'negative' item will be added to remove the erroneous entry from the Cost Control worksheet. Type in the correct information in the blank row that is provided. Re-Posting If you have cleared the cc? column in erroneous rows, they will be posted automatically the next time you run *Post to Job Costs. You can also re-check the accuracy of all cost control items by turning on check previous postings under *Job Cost Options. WARNING:
If you put a check beside check previous postings, the posting process will go much more
slowly. If you have changed any dollar values, the change will be posted
to the Cost Control worksheets. |
