Equipment & Tools Expenses |
Equipment Costs If you want to job cost equipment at an hourly rate in the MacNail construction accounting software, treat each piece of equipment as an employee. Give it a wage rate equal to the desired job cost rate, and use a burden factor of 1 so it won't have payroll taxes deducted! NOTE-- In 2000, MacNail was replaced by Goldenseal construction accounting software. Goldenseal is an integrated program that includes general accounting, job costing, payroll and project billing, plus estimating and other features. You can enter Equipment Hours into Goldenseal, for more accurate tracking of equipment expenses. Enter equipment hours on each job just as you would enter employee hours. When you spend money on the upkeep of hourly equipment, give it a job number of 99 and a cost code of EQ. This cost will not be included in your overhead, since it is being covered on an hourly basis. If you treat equipment upkeep as an overhead expense, give it a job number of 99 and a cost code of RP. This cost will be included in your overhead. When you purchase tools, or other equipment that must be depreciated,
give it a job number of 99 and a cost code of D. At year end it will be easy to use *Extract Special
to pull off a list of all depreciable items.
Set up your own depreciation tracking worksheet, or use one of the commercial templates currently
available for that purpose.Depreciation |
