Check Printing Options |
NOTE-- In 2000, we replaced MacNail with Goldenseal construction accounting software. Goldenseal is an integrated program that includes general accounting, job costing, payroll and project billing, plus estimating and other features. It also includes check printing. We still include these instructions on our website, for die-hard users of our original MacNail Accounting software. Choose a Date method To determine exactly how each check will be dated by the MacNail accounting software, choose MacNail Options from the Options menu. If you would like to use today's date (the date the check is printed), turn the 'Use today's date when printing checks' option on. If you would like to use the date listed in the ledger or payroll report, turn it off. NOTE: For instructions about the other items in this dialog box, see page 172 of the accounting manual. Decide how to handle payroll checks If you are using the MacNail Check Printing Software to figure your payroll, you'll be able to print detailed payroll checks from a Payroll Report, showing deductions and withholding for this pay period, and for year-to-date. Otherwise, you may want to write your payroll checks directly from the Ledger, along with your other payments. To set the source for payroll checks, choose Payroll Options from the Options menu. To print payroll checks directly from the Ledger, turn the 'Print Labor Items in Ledger...' option on. These checks will only list the payee, their address, and the amount of the check-- you won't see any breakdown of withholding and deductions. If you will use a Payroll Report to print payroll checks (or if you won't print payroll checks at all), turn this option off. Any labor items in the Ledger will be skipped. |
