Budget Projections
Because it is
so easy to change spreadsheets, you can use the MacNail construction accounting software to help
budget future expenses, whether they are regular 'repeat' expenses,
or one-of-a-kind items.
To make budget projections:
1. Add enough extra lines to your Ledger so you have space to work in. You may want to increase the
number of lines added at one time with *MacNail Options.
2. Several lines down, type in as many projected future expense and income items as you want. You
can use rough estimates if you don't have accurate figures.
3. Check the running total column in the ledger to see how your balance looks.
4. As you enter actual expenses, adjust the project costs to actual figures. You may need to use Copy and
Paste to move them to different cells, if they are not in the right place.
NOTE-- In 2000, MacNail was replaced by
Goldenseal construction
accounting software. Goldenseal is an integrated program that
includes general accounting, job costing, payroll and project billing,
plus estimating and other features.
Recurring Expenses
To handle recurring expenses:
1. If you use MacNail's Accounts Payables (see next section), you can enter recurring expenses into the appropriate
Logbook several months in advance.
2. Recurring expenses can also be typed into a ledger in advance, just as you would handle budget projections
(see previous section).
3. We have found reminder programs such as Smart Alarms to be very helpful in remembering to pay bills, file
forms, etcetera.reminders
