Project Estimate vs Job Cost Amount

Problem

The project total of a cost control sheet does not match the project total of the estimate, after they have done job cost posting via MacNail construction accounting software

Diagnosis

User is confused because numbers don't match in MacNail job costing. Total of construction estimate is not the same as total on the cost control worksheet. Accounting numbers don't match.

Solution

That's how it should be--because the profit on the cost control sheet is located in a different place than it is on an estimate summation. Job costing only covers hard construction costs, while the estimate amount also includes overhead, profit, and other "soft" costs.
