No Material Cost Showing

Problem

getting zero for 'total cost' in material log within MacNail accounting software

Diagnosis

1. if in just one row-- check for zero, blanks or non-numbers in 'units' and 'unit price' columns.
2. If in more than one row, check the Master Index-- make sure sales tax is 1 or close for every material supplier.
3. If that still doesn't fix it, check the heading in row 2 of the Master Index for the sales tax column
4. If that still doesn't fix it, maybe it's missing lookups

Solution

1. May have to retype them, watching to not use letter L or O instead of numbers
2. It's a multiplier, so if zero or blank, it reduces material costs to zero! If 7% tax, type 1.07.
3. Heading should be MTAX.
4. Choose Lookup Formulas from Formula menu to put them back into MacNail construction accounting software.

NOTE-- Goldenseal accounting software won't have problems like this, since it can automatically "clean up" typed values to be valid numbers, and it explicitly adds sales tax within the Material Purchase record
