Dot Matrix Printing

Problem

imageWriter/dot matrix check printing
Alignment problems, with dot matrix printer and MacNail construction accounting software

Diagnosis

There was an error on one of the dot matrix check blanks in early versions of MacNail accounting software 3.4, so you may be getting calls from people with strange ImageWriter printing problems.

Solution

Here's how to diagnose this printing problem:

1. The defined name checks.per.page on the BLANK refers to cell C2, and cell C2 contains the number 2, for two checks per page.
2. In the ImageWriter page setup dialog, "No Gaps Between Pages" should be checked, and "US Legal" should be checked.
3. They should be using the 8.5"x7" check blanks for the above settings.

To duplicate the above settings on your machine you'll need to have an ImageWriter driver in the system folder, and of course use the Chooser to switch to the ImageWriter.

NOTE-- Setting up printing layouts is easier in Goldenseal accounting software-- use the Custom Layouts command if you want to change the appearance of printed forms (or anything else). However, printing is still one of the most complicated areas in business software, and it still makes up a significant fraction of our tech support calls.
