March 2009 Revision We now have revised US payroll tax tables, with slightly reduced withholding as part of the stimulus package passed in February. Click here for updating instructions. 2009 Payroll Tax Tables Payroll withholding tables for 2009 are now available for free download! As of 3/23, these tables include revisions, as a result of the stimulus package. US Federal payroll tax withholding formulas have changed slightly for 2009 (they have changed every year since 1988, the first year we started doing payroll software). The following states have no state income tax withholding: Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire , South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, Wyoming. The following states changed their payroll withholding tables for 2009: Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont, The following states did not change their withholding formulas for 2009: Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, District of Columbia, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, NOTE-- We check all state websites in late December, and then again in mid-January and early July. That catches most tax revisions, but occasionally we miss one! If your state has revised its tax calculations, please let us know. We expect that 2009 will be an active year for tax changes. Printing W-2 and 1099 Forms Click the links to see detailed website instructions for printing 1099 and W-2 forms. New Manuals We are in the process of rewriting and improving our software manuals. Instead of the current two manuals, we plan to have a general Basics manual, plus specialized manuals for accounting, estimating, payroll, project management, rentals and sales/inventory. They'll make info easier to find, and will also allow us to split Goldenseal into a wider range of specialty programs. The new Basics manual and Estimating manual are now ready in 'first draft' form. Click here to download them. These new manuals is still under development, so we haven't filled in cross references or the index yet, and haven't started on the separate Macintosh manual. Comments of any kind will be greatly appreciated! 2008 Canadian Payroll Taxes Canadian withholding rates all changed in 2008: Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Northwest Territories , Nova Scotia, Nunavut, Ontario, PEI, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Yukon For the free download of 2008 Canadian tax tables, click here.
