Ohio has state tax withholding, based on tax tables that are similar to the federal payroll withholding tables. Rates did not change in 2005 (in fact the Ohio withholding formulas have not changed since 1987, which prompts us to give the entire state our Golden Turtle Egg award for payroll simplicity).

HINT-- Turtle Creek Software provides free annual updates for US federal and Ohio state tax withholding rates.

After the first year the rate depends on the employer's experience rating-- the lowest rate is .2% and the highest is 8%.
