Massachusetts has state income tax withholding. The payroll tax computations did not change in 2014 (exemptions and/or tax tables have changed in 12 of the past 24 years). The state calculates payroll withholding amounts with a simple flat percentage tax after deducting employee exemptions (the tax rate for 2014 is 5.3%, as it has been for a number of years).

HINT-- Turtle Creek Software provides free annual updates for US federal and Massachusetts tax withholding rates.
