Construction Contract Clauses

The Clauses File

The MacNail construction management software includes a Clauses file, which is a database of clause grammar. It includes descriptive text for every line item in a stock estimator. This text is used to create simple English-language descriptions for each piece of work in a project.

Spec Writer assembles specifications clauses using 'Smart Grammar'. It can include quantities and/or prices. It automatically handles plurals, and it can even vary the types of sentences used in the contract, so your contracts don't sound stilted.

Using just one Clauses File

Generally you will use just one Clauses file. It will include one row for each line item in the Specifications portion of your estimates.

To have just one Clauses file, choose Spec Writer Options from the Options menu, and make sure Use just one Clauses file is turned on.

Whenever you do anything that involves a Clauses file, the Spec Writer Clauses file will be used.
