Using Contracts in your Business

Once you have created a contract with the MacNail construction management software, you'll be able to use it productively in your business.

When Bidding Competitively

Often builders are expected to bid on projects that have incomplete project drawings and/or specifications. Even in the best of projects, there may be minor details that are left unspecified, or contract terms that you find unacceptable.

If project drawings or specs are incomplete, use Spec Writer to create a Spec Sheet based on part or all of your estimate. This file, when attached to your bid or proposal, will spell out exactly what work you plan to do as a part of the bid price. It can also specify which work will be handled under an allowance rather than as a fixed price, and it will make clear the exact terms upon which your price is based.

NOTE: A spec sheet is simply a contract or subcontract that includes no headers, footers or stock clauses.
If there are only a few unspecified details or unacceptable contract terms, you can also submit your bid with conditions attached, using just a portion of a Spec Sheet.

Some architects, designers or clients may not find supplementary conditions acceptable, so it's a good idea to check with them first before creating a lot of paper with the MacNail project management software!
