Creating a Project Schedule

MacNail schedules are a "time line" for a project. They are nearly always created from a MacNail estimate. The MacNail construction scheduling software will get detailed information about the project from the estimate, and then use it to calculate schedule time units.

NOTE: If you haven't created a MacNail estimate yet and still want to run through the tutorial, choose *Open Schedule from the File menu, click on Sample Schedule, then click OK. You can then skip the next section and jump directly to

Making a New Schedule

To make a new schedule for a project in the MacNail project management software:

1. Choose *New Schedule from the File menu. If you don't see a *New Schedule command, follow the steps listed on the previous page.
2. You'll be given a choice of project sources to use for the schedule. If you have a current project list for the project, click on the Project List button, then click OK.
NOTE: A project list is a type of extraction previously made from a MacNail estimate.
If you have a MacNail estimate that you'd like to use, click on the Estimate button, then click OK.
If you choose From Scratch, you'll have to type in all construction items and time units yourself, instead of having MacNail calculate them for you.
3. You'll see a list of available source files of the type you have chosen. Choose one, then click OK. A new schedule will be created automatically (it may take a few minutes).
