Estimator Summation Formulas

The hard costs portion of the Summation in the MacNail construction estimating software (above the subtotal row) contains formulas that display the cost of each category, as brought in from Specifications or the Clearinghouse. These formulas are fixed, and should not be edited in a construction estimator.

The soft costs portion of the Summation (below the subtotal row) can be changed, as described on this and the following three pages.

Soft Cost Item Changes

To add soft costs in the MacNail construction management software, click anywhere in the row where you'd like to add the new item, drag down through the number of rows you'd like to add, then choose Add Rows Here from the Edit menu.

To delete soft costs, click anywhere in the row or rows you'd like to remove, then choose Delete Rows from the Edit menu. The selected row or rows will be deleted, and the rows below them will be shifted upwards to take their place.

To clear soft costs, click anywhere in the rows you'd like to erase, then choose Clear Rows from the Edit menu. The text will be removed from the selected row or rows, leaving blank rows.
