The MacNail construction management software makes it easy
to rename all mentions of a cost category in the Summation, Clearinghouse and Specifications. To do so:
1. Go to
the Summation, Clearinghouse or Specifications section of the estimating worksheet.
2. Click in any row of the desired category or subcategory.
3. Choose Rename Category from the Format menu.

4. If you are in the Clearinghouse or Specifications sections of an estimate that has subcategories,
you'll be
asked whether to rename the whole main category, or just the selected subcategory. Otherwise you'll only be able
to rename the selected main category.
5. You'll be shown a dialog box displaying current information about the category.
6. Type in a new name, and if you're renaming a main category, the new cost code you'd like to
use-- then click OK. All references to the cost category in the estimating worksheet will be adjusted
automatically.
