Running Total

The MacNail construction accounting software calculates the current checkbook balance and displays it here.

Notice that cash items show a running total in italic. This is to remind you that cash items will not affect the running total, and will not be used when reconciling the ledger.

Bank Statement

When you get your bank statement, type any text into the stmt. column. You can use command-hyphen to enter today's date, or use a two or three-letter code for the month of the statement.

Marking off items that show in the statement will help you to reconcile the ledger (see page 74).
