2014 US Payroll Tax Tables

We released 2014 payroll tax tables for the US on Dec 30, 2013. Click here for US payroll downloads.

US Federal payroll tax withholding formulas changed for 2014 (they have changed every year since 1988, the first year we started creating payroll software).

The following states changed their payroll withholding tables for 2014: Arizona, California, Connecticut, Idaho, Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina (major changes), North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont

The following states did not change their withholding formulas for 2014: Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, District of Columbia, Delaware, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Montana, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin

The following states have no state or local income tax withholding: Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota , Tennessee, Texas, Washington, Wyoming.

NOTE-- We check all state websites in late December, and then at least once, later in the year. That catches most tax revisions, but occasionally we miss one! If your state has changed its tax calculations, please let us know.

Version 4.81 Update

We released a minor update for Macintosh users on January 7, 2013, and will release the Windows version in a few days. This release fixes a few bugs that turned up since the version 4.8 update, and revises the calculation method slightly for Canadian provincial payroll taxes (affecting BC users only). It is available for download now.

Version 4.8 Update

Goldenseal version 4.8 was released on October 16. The 4.8 update is free to anyone who purchased Goldenseal after Sept 1, 2011, since it took longer than our usual update cycle.

Note that we currently do not send out email notifications for new versions. Our ISP discontinued their email listserv service in early 2012, and we probably will not be able to replace it.

We've Moved!

As of May 1, 2012, we have moved our office to 119 S. Cayuga St. #304, Ithaca NY 14850.

New Manuals

We are in the process of rewriting and improving our software manuals. Instead of the current two manuals, we plan to have a general Basics manual, plus specialized manuals for accounting, estimating, payroll, project management, rentals and sales/inventory. They'll make info easier to find, and will also allow us to split Goldenseal into a wider range of specialty programs.

The new Basics manual and Estimating manual are now ready in 'first draft' form. Click here to download them. These new manuals are still under development, so we haven't filled in cross references or the index yet, and haven't started on the separate Macintosh manual. Comments of any kind will be greatly appreciated!

Upgrading from MacNail and BidMagic

Owners of MacNail and BidMagic who haven't yet upgraded to Goldenseal can save $50 for a purchase of the basic version, or $100 for the full version. Goldenseal has all of the features of our older software, with many improvements. You can easily import most of your old estimating and accounting data into Goldenseal. To order, contact us.
