Concrete Concrete Forms & Reinforcing

Construction ITEM DESCRIPTION

Concrete construction unit cost for installation of "re-rods" or "re-bars" in poured concrete walls or slabs.

Unit Size

Square foot.

Labor Costs

We figure 125 square feet of placement per hour by a skilled work, with some help by an unskilled worker.

NOTE-- This quantity works for simple foundation walls or slabs with light reinforcing. For beams, stairs or other concrete formwork that involves bending and more precise placement, you should figure a much higher labor cost.

Material Costs

One 20 foot re-rod for every 33 square feet of concrete area (placement at approximately 18" spacing), plus a bit of utility wire.

Hard Construction Costs, Typical

$.42 per square foot of horizontal concrete wall area

Suggested Quantity

Goldenseal calculates the foundation wall area, and uses it for this unit cost.

Source of Construction Pricing

Based on job cost data from a couple of projects done by Turtle Creek Construction.

Comments

The use of the terms "rerod" and "rebar" seems to vary locally, but Google shows 35,000 hits for "re-rod" and 2,300,000 hits for "rebar", so it appears that the latter is much more common useage.

NOTE-- there is a rock/punk band named Rerod in Minnesota, so maybe that means that the term will make a comeback!
