Construction ITEM DESCRIPTION |
Concrete construction unit cost for installation
of "re-rods" or "re-bars" in poured concrete walls
or slabs.
|
Labor
Costs |
We figure 125 square feet of placement
per hour by a skilled work, with some help by an unskilled
worker.
NOTE-- This quantity works for
simple foundation walls or slabs with light reinforcing.
For beams, stairs or other concrete formwork that involves
bending and more precise placement, you should figure
a much higher labor cost. |
Material
Costs |
One 20 foot re-rod for every 33 square
feet of concrete area (placement at approximately 18" spacing),
plus a bit of utility wire.
|
Hard Construction Costs, Typical |
$.42 per square foot of horizontal
concrete wall area
|
Suggested
Quantity |

Comments |
The use of the terms "rerod" and "rebar"
seems to vary locally, but
Google shows 35,000 hits
for "re-rod" and 2,300,000
hits for "rebar", so it appears
that the latter is much more
common useage.
NOTE-- there
is a rock/punk band
named Rerod in Minnesota,
so maybe that means that
the term will make a comeback! |
