Weight Fields

Goldenseal 3.8 expands use of the Weight field, so you can use it for Sales and Estimates.

You can enter a weight for each Cost Item. Goldenseal will then calculate the total weight for each Assembly, and also add up the total weight for items in an Estimate or Sale.

Goldenseal uses the weight total to calculate delivery charges on Sales. You can also use it to figure approximate delivery costs for project estimates.

How to Use

To view the Weight field in Cost Items, click the Inventory Setup button.

To view the Weight field in Assemblies, click the Sales Setup button.

If you want to add a weight field to Estimate records, follow these steps:

1. Choose Custom Layouts from the Options menu, and choose Transactions from the submenu.
2. Enter Estimates into the Transaction popup field at upper left.
3. Enter Items into the Layout popup field at upper left.
4. Select the Field tool in the palette on the left side of the window (fourth row left).
5. Click in the layout, and drag a rectangle where you'd like the Weight field to appear.
6. Choose Weight from the list of optional fields.
7. Click OK.
8. Close the layout, and save changes.
9. You'll see the new Weight field the next time you open the Estimates window.

Technical Details

Some parts of the weight interface are working in Goldenseal 3.7, but we have extended it to Estimates, and added the calculation of weights for Assemblies, based on the weight of each component.
