Unit Price Updating

Feature

Starting with Goldenseal 3.5, you can make minor changes in Cost Items or Assemblies, and not have to wait for a price update when you save the record.

You'll probably notice this mainly when you are making minor changes the labor Cost Items, since they affect enough other items that it takes a few seconds to recalculate.

How to Use

You don't need to do anything special to use this new feature.

When you make a change that affects the price of a Cost Item, Goldenseal estimating software will automatically update all Assemblies that include that item.

When you make a minor change that does not affect the price, Goldenseal will now avoid the update.

Technical Details

Every Cost Item and Assembly keeps a list of dependent items, so it can update them quickly.

Normally you won't even notice the updating since it happens very quickly, but some labor items are included in hundreds of Assemblies and it may take a few seconds to update them, when the labor price changes.
