Server Memory Problems

PROBLEM

After long periods of use, the Goldenseal server runs out of memory and gives various error messages.

Caught By

Turtle Creek testing.

Workaround

Restart Goldenseal server.

Solution

Version 3.1 is much better at avoiding server overload.

Technical Details

There were a few client commands that would fill up the server with records that were not properly "purged". When we redid the Cache Report recently, it allowed us to track down the problem commands and add more purges.

Note that we test here with huge numbers of records, using a Mac OS 9 server with a minimum memory size. Most users will probably never see this problem-- but with version 3.1 and later you definitely won't.
