Critical Path Schedules

Does Goldenseal handle Critical Path scheduling (CPM)?

No, Goldenseal schedules currently use a very simple approach-- they just list each item in the project, and assume you will do them in order from top to bottom.

HINT-- This approach is not as accurate as CPM, but it still gives reasonable schedules for projects that take 3 months or less.

In future versions we plan to add some simple links in the Assemblies records so you can create dependencies between items, and figure work that can be done in parallel. We won't create a full critical path diagram but we can do a better job of showing project structure.

We'll also be linking our schedule information to Microsoft Schedule and other true critical-path programs.

HINT-- Goldenseal does one thing much better than other scheduling programs-- it contains Assemblies records which include the time it takes to do each task. That means it can calculate the time it takes for each task, so you don't have to guess on the details.
